A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in the Atlanta, Georgia area partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local U.S. veteran. Along with a donation, the Fairway branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The honoree at the Atlanta-area event was USAF veteran Derrick Barker Sr., who lacked the resources to pursue his dream of building a handyman business in Atlanta. Fairway, AWI and Ron Rigdon of Ron’s Auto Sales in Lawrenceville, Georgia honored Barker with a truck and a $3,000 grant for tools and auto insurance.
Branch manager Mark Moore was delighted to be involved in this great event. He said:
“This event has given me a whole new respect for our Armed Forces and what they sacrifice for us. It also opened my eyes to how important homeownership is to our vets upon their return home. AWI does two amazing things, and they do both exceptionally well: They train real estate agents to help them understand what our vets need during the homebuying process, and they are an awesome charity that gives back 100% to meet the unique needs of each veteran they assist.”
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, please give me a call.Tags: Veterans
